In this session, I will introduce some of the building blocks of a superconducting quantum computer. Such a quantum computer needs to be cooled at Millikelvin temperatures, and the qubits (quantum computer’s basic information processing units) are in thermal equilibrium at this temperature with the cryogenic setup. The qubits are made up of non-linear electrical circuit called Josephson junction. At Millikelvin temperatures, this macroscopic circuit behaves quantum mechanically, and one can built qubits with it. I will introduce at some depth how exactly these qubits are built.
