Dear all,

OneQuantum Nepal is happy to be back with a very exciting line up of speakers from industries and academia in quantum computing. The theme at OQN for the winter session is 'Winter for Application'. In the next months, you will listen to presentations related to quantum algorithms as well as other important use cases of quantum computers in fields such as finance and engineering, among others. In addition, given the experiment background of some of our speakers, you will also hear about how these algorithms could be realised experimentally at the level of qubits and gates in a range of quantum computing architecture. We are again happy to present a good mix of national as well as international speakers.

To kick things off, we welcome our first speaker in the series - Yadav P. Kandel. Mr. Kandel is a doctoral researcher at University of Rochester. Inspiringly, he hails from Nepal. In his talk, he will tell us about electrons in semiconductors, which allows one to define qubit states in it. Please checkout the advertisement poster below for the talk abstract:

The event takes place at 7 PM Nepali time on October 21, 2021 (Thursday). To enter the meeting room, please click on the zoom link below:

We thank our speaker, Mr. Yadav P. Kandel, and are very much looking forward to listening to his talk.

Kind regards,

Manish

  7. Could quantum technologies really be the next gold rush? ETH Vice President Vanessa Wood and quantum researcher Andreas Wallraff discuss how close we are to putting quantum promises into practice.

“We’ve witnessed a number of transitions since quantum physics first emerged over 100 years ago. Things like transistors, lasers, and MRI would never have been conceivable without quantum physics. So you could argue that many applications of quantum physics are already here. The late 1980s produced various theories on how quantum physics could be used for information technology, computers, secure communication, and enhanced sensor systems. In the late 1990s, researchers began experimenting with ways of making such systems a reality, and the first successful implementations led to a period of experimental advances and a surge in expectations. Today, we really are in a transitional phase between fundamental physics and real-world applications.”

  8. In conversation with: Oxford Quantum Circuits’ Ilana Wisby

CEO Ilana Wisby shatters all deep tech founder stereotypes. Her unique skill set seamlessly crosses both the business world and academia, garnering accolades in each along the way.
